Less

the year so far

My last post was about some of the things I wanted to focus on for 2025.

They were:

Well, it's turned out that not all of these can be taken up together, but I've made a lot of progress nonetheless.

I have managed to slow things down at work and I've certainly stepped back more, but the role is still very demanding and I will need to keep looking for ways to lessen the strain.

I decided to pause my Japanese study for the moment. I think the best way for me to progress is with a tutor that I see on a regular basis, so I'll pick it up again when I'm confident that I'll be able to dedicate enough time to homework and self-study.

I've made a great deal of progress with bodyweight exercises and fitness in general. This has been the area I've focused on more than anything else. I found a coach to help me with building strength through the right progressions. Now, I'm following a structured exercise programme along with a nutrition plan. I'll write a little more about my experience with it in a separate post.

Finally, I've also made progress with psychoanalysis work. I've become more involved in study groups and have been actively reading and researching. It's a pleasure to be reading again and engaging with intellectual texts. I hope to publish something later in the year, something that will come out of the work from the study groups.

As the year marches on, it may be that the emphasis shifts on these points. I will likely dial back the exercise once I've established a routine that I'm happy with. That should leave me more time for study and research. One thing at a time.
